About the Founders – The Banner Story

We wanted to share a quick overview of the heart behind this phenomenal movement—The Banner—and how it all began.

2020 — The Spark in a Difficult Season

In the heart of the pandemic, every church in our area had shut its doors. Generation Z—especially young adults—were deeply affected. Isolated and disconnected, many wrestled with questions of identity, purpose, and belonging.

While watching online services from home, Gina and I began to dream:

What if we could gather just a few young adults—students we had ministered to since their elementary, junior high, and high school years—who we knew were struggling?

What if we could bring them together to worship Jesus—no matter their race, background, church affiliation, or economic status?

As stories of teen suicide and mental health struggles continued to rise, our hearts broke. We kept asking:

"Is there anything we can do about the loneliness, insecurity, fear, anxiety, and depression?"

Early 2021 — A Leap of Faith

After months of prayer and seeking God’s direction, we took action. Alongside a few faithful friends, we launched The Banner.

With just 30 folding chairs, a rug, a small sound system, and a firepit in our backyard, we hosted our first Banner Worship Night. Thirty-plus young adults showed up. For over three hours, we worshipped, prayed, and encountered the Holy Spirit in a powerful way.

August 20, 2021 — The First Public Gathering

We announced our first public Banner event—just two weeks before it happened—through a brand-new Instagram account.

We prayed for 30–50 attendees… and prepared for hundreds. Using our personal funds to cover all costs, we trusted God to provide every volunteer—and He did. From parking lot greeters to worship leaders, tech crews to media teams, everything came together at no cost.

From the start, unity was at the core. That first event brought together 13 different churches—proving that division is not an option.

2024 — Growth Beyond Expectations

What began with 15 Instagram followers and 270 attendees has grown to:

  • 800 young adults gathering at events
  • 200 salvations
  • water baptisms
  • 1,400 Instagram followers and counting

Today — A New Chapter in North Texas

Now, we’ve launched The Banner here in North Texas—and you have the opportunity to be part of it from the ground up.

We do not charge registration or generate revenue from The Banner, so there is no financial compensation for ministry participation at this time. Still, we prayerfully ask:

Would you consider partnering with us in this mission to bring unity to the capital “C” Church?

Thank you for your time, your prayers, and your heart.

Love you, Church!
